Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory has been issued at a time when the capital continues to reel under severe to hazardous air quality levels.

Taking note of the prevailing environmental conditions, the Supreme Court Registry has formally advised advocates and litigants to opt for video conferencing mode of hearing wherever feasible.

The Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory was communicated through a circular dated December 14, directing that appearances through virtual mode may be made in matters listed before the Court.

The advisory reflects administrative sensitivity towards health concerns while ensuring that judicial work remains uninterrupted.

As per the Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory, the direction has been issued under the instructions of the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant.

The Registry clarified that lawyers and parties appearing in person are requested to make appropriate use of the hybrid and video conferencing facilities available in their respective matters, subject to compliance with prescribed technical and procedural norms.

The circular further notes that the objective of the Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory is to facilitate smooth conduct of proceedings without causing avoidable hardship to members of the Bar, litigants, court staff, or other stakeholders during the ongoing air pollution crisis in Delhi and the National Capital Region.

The Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory has also been circulated to institutional bodies including the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association for wider dissemination among legal professionals.

With hazardous AQI levels posing serious health risks, the Delhi air pollution Supreme Court VC advisory reinforces the Court’s continued emphasis on balancing access to justice with safety and public health considerations.
