PlayStation Network Faces Major Outage, Thousands Unable to Connect
Gamers worldwide faced frustration on Friday evening as a massive PlayStation Network outage left thousands unable to access their favorite games.
The outage, first detected around 5:20 p.m., caused widespread disruptions, affecting both online gameplay and essential PSN services.
According to Down Detector, reports of connection failures surged past 68,000 by 5:49 p.m.—with a staggering 78% related to server connection issues.
Additionally, 19% of users reported login problems, while another 3% faced issues accessing their accounts.

The outage impacted a wide range of PlayStation services, including:

Users took to social media to voice their frustration, with many reporting inability to launch purchased digital games, access their friends list, or see their online status.

Sony Acknowledges the Issue
Shortly after reports skyrocketed, Sony addressed the issue via its @AskPlayStation support account on X (formerly Twitter).
The company confirmed that some users were experiencing problems and directed them to the official PSN Status Page for updates.
“We are aware that some players are having issues with PlayStation Network services,” Sony stated. “Our team is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.”

What’s Causing the PlayStation Network Outage?
