Apple has introduced a new Apple Election Widget in the Apple News app, providing live updates for the 2024 US elections directly on iPhones and iPads.

Designed for iOS 17 and later, the widget delivers election news, real-time results, and key updates directly to users’ home screens, making it easy to follow the race as events unfold.

iPhone users can quickly access election results, candidate updates, and voting trends across the nation. Users can adjust the widget’s size and position, keeping track of the election without disturbing other activities on their devices.

The feature, rolling out across the United States throughout Election Day, will be convenient for anyone closely following the election.

Apple has extended its Live Activities function, previously popular for music, sports, and calls, to provide critical election updates. Using the widget, iPhone and iPad users get instant notifications on breaking news and shifting trends in battleground states.

US Election: How to Enable the Apple Election Widget

To enable live-tracking of election results, open the Apple News app and tap on the “Follow the 2024 election live” banner at the top or under “Top Stories.” If not visible, check the “Election 2024” section in the app’s menu.

A notification will confirm activation, and users can disable it by tapping the banner again.

This feature, accessible on iPhone and iPad lock screens, uses Dynamic Island on select devices for enhanced viewing, while Apple Watch users can view updates via widget.

Live Activities offers an efficient way for users to stay up-to-date with minimal distraction and without exposure to divisive coverage.
