Bishop honed his skills at the prestigious National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in Australia.

He enrolled in their full-time Certificate IV in Musical Theater program in 2019 and graduated in 2020.

However, he had to miss his graduation ceremony due to landing a role in Disney’s Spin. His time at NAPA gave him a solid foundation in acting, musical theater, and more.

His First Major Break Came with Disney’s Spin

Michael Bishop’s breakout role came in Disney Channel’s Spin, where he played Max, a DJ who steals the heart of the lead character, Rhea.

Bishop recalls how this was his “first international break” and an exciting step in his career. He landed the role after several auditions, marking his entry into Hollywood.

Worked as an Extra in Pirates of the Caribbean

Before landing leading roles, Bishop worked as an extra in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The movie was shot in his hometown of Queensland, and being on set solidified his dream to pursue acting professionally.

Seeing the crew in action and meeting Johnny Depp made Bishop realize that acting was his calling.
