Jackie Shroyer, the wife of missionary Beau Shroyer, has been arrested in connection with her husband’s death during a missionary trip to Angola.
Beau, 44, originally from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, was tragically killed on October 25, leaving the church and community in shock.
Lakes Area Vineyard Church, where Beau was a beloved member, confirmed Jackie’s arrest without providing further details.
The Shroyer family moved to Angola three years ago as missionaries for the organization SIM, choosing to live in a remote village lacking basic amenities like electricity.
They aimed to spread Christian teachings and the message of God’s love to the local population.
Beau was a former Detroit Lakes Police Department member and had also worked as a real estate agent before answering his missionary calling.
Pastor Troy M. Easton of Lakes Area Vineyard Church expressed the congregation’s overwhelming grief and disbelief, saying, “We don’t have words to express our sorrow.”
SIM has affirmed its commitment to supporting the Shroyers’ five children, who are reportedly “well cared for” amidst the unfolding tragedy.
Mark Bosscher, SIM USA’s Chief Personnel Officer and General Counsel, stated that SIM has ensured Jackie receives appropriate legal representation.
The organization and Lakes Area Vineyard Church are also collaborating closely to support the family in this difficult time.
