Home Minister Amit Shah recently addressed a rally in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir, where he promised a terror-free region under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime.
Shah’s remarks were part of his campaign for the upcoming elections, set to take place on October 1, 2024.
His speech heavily criticized the National Conference (NC) and the Congress party, alleging that their potential alliance could lead to the implementation of Pakistan’s agenda in Jammu & Kashmir.

In his address, Shah accused the NC and Congress of advocating for the release of stone pelters and terrorists from jails, a claim that he vehemently opposed.
He highlighted the BJP’s commitment to combating terrorism, stating, “The BJP will bury terrorism deep inside the earth.”
His comments specifically targeted Omar Abdullah, the leader of the NC, claiming Abdullah had opposed the death sentence of Afzal Guru, the convict in the 2001 Parliament attack.
Shah’s rally in Udhampur was not just about attacking opposition parties; it also served as a platform to outline the BJP’s vision for Jammu & Kashmir.
He assured attendees that under BJP governance, the region would experience peace and stability.
“These people (NC and Congress) will never let J&K flourish,” Shah remarked, reinforcing the idea that the current parties in opposition have failed to support the local populace.
The Home Minister also took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who criticized the ruling government for “outsiders” controlling Jammu & Kashmir.
Shah rebutted this by highlighting the Congress’s history of imposing President’s rule in the region.
He insisted that the BJP-led Central Government has focused on empowering the underprivileged since 2014, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and women.
Furthermore, Shah assured the audience that the BJP has plans to restore statehood to Jammu & Kashmir following the elections, addressing Omar Abdullah’s claims that a Congress-NC government would do the same.
“We are committed to restoring statehood once the elections are over,” he stated, showcasing the BJP’s future plans for the region.
