A claim has gone viral on TikTok, alleging that Usha Vance, wife of GOP Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, is in the process of filing for divorce. While the rumor has gained traction online, there is no verified evidence to support it.
This sudden speculation about the couple’s relationship is creating excitement, especially as JD Vance prepares for the much-awaited Vice Presidential debate against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
The rumor gained more attention after Pam Keith, a Democrat who ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, shared her thoughts on social media.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Keith stated, “I’m seeing a lot of traffic on TikTok that Usha Vance is in the process of filing for divorce against JD.” She added that while she wasn’t sure if it was true, it would certainly be a shocking “October surprise.”
However, upon closer investigation, it appears the claim may not be as serious as it first seemed. Some users pointed out that the original TikTok video where the rumor started ends with the creator admitting that the video was meant to show how easily misinformation can spread online.
One user commented, “It’s fake. The original poster on TikTok finished the video with ‘see how easy it is to lie?’ and no one finished the video before they shared it.”
JD Vance and Usha Vance (née Chilukuri) have been married since 2014. The two met at Yale Law School and began dating after being paired together for a writing assignment.
Over the years, Usha has supported her husband publicly, including during his political campaigns, and was last seen cheering him on at the Republican National Convention.
As of now, there is no verified evidence suggesting that the couple is going through any marital issues, and it seems that the viral video was a hoax designed to highlight the dangers of false information spreading online.
This incident underlines how quickly rumors can spiral out of control in the social media age.
With JD Vance set to participate in the Vice Presidential debate at CBS Studios, this rumor is an unwanted distraction, but one that appears to be unfounded.
