Cheapside and Mawdsley Street, Bolton
Cheapside and Mawdsley Street are other key Bolton locations used in Ridley Season 2.
The show captures the lively atmosphere of these streets in several exterior scenes, with the production closing off the area to traffic for filming.
Cheapside and Mawdsley Street are mostly used for driving sequences, showing Ridley navigating the streets of Bolton during his investigations.
These spots bring authenticity to the show’s Bolton-based storyline, grounding the action in real-life locations that fans of the town may recognize.
Derbyshire Countryside
While Bolton is a major focus, Ridley Season 2 also ventured down to Derbyshire for its scenic countryside shots.
Many of the rural scenes, which often take place in more isolated locations, were filmed around New Mills Marina, Albion Road, and the canal towpath in High Peak.
According to location manager Danny Newton, the team filmed in and around a narrowboat in New Mills, adding to the series’ unique atmosphere.
Other key locations included the towpath near the famous Swizzles factory and the Hawthorne Industrial Estate.
These rural spots give the show a fresh feel, creating a stark contrast between the bustling streets of Bolton and the peaceful landscapes of Derbyshire.
