Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was recently arrested in South Florida, charged with murder-for-hire, and is currently being held without bond.
The 32-year-old rapper was taken into custody in Broward County, Florida, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
According to police records, he is being detained in the Broward County Jail, awaiting transfer to U.S. Marshals’ custody.
The arrest has stirred major conversations as no bond has been set for the rapper at this time. Lil Durk’s team has not yet made any public comments.
OTF Affiliates Arrested Related to Quando Rondo Incident
Just hours before Lil Durk’s arrest, five other men allegedly tied to his OTF (Only The Family) collective were also detained.
These men, all from Chicago, have been charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire. Their arrests are linked to the 2022 killing of Saviay’a Robinson, the cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, in Los Angeles.
According to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, these five men are accused of carrying out the shooting under connections to the OTF collective.
Prosecutors claim that flights and rental cars for these five individuals were reportedly paid for using a credit card connected to OTF’s label. This connection is being used as part of the evidence by the prosecution to establish the alleged link to Lil Durk’s collective.
Connections to the Death of King Von
Authorities believe this shooting was motivated by retribution. It is alleged that an unnamed OTF member offered lucrative music opportunities to anyone willing to harm Quando Rondo.
This was purportedly done in retaliation for the death of Lil Durk’s close associate, King Von, who was fatally shot in November 2020. King Von was killed by an affiliate of Quando Rondo following a violent altercation outside an Atlanta lounge.
The 2022 incident involving Quando Rondo and his team occurred in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles on August 19. While Quando Rondo was not injured, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was fatally shot during the attack.
Legal Proceedings and Next Steps
Lil Durk’s current situation remains tense as he faces serious legal consequences. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed his detention without bond.
Authorities will likely continue investigations to gather further details in the coming days. With five alleged OTF affiliates already arrested, the situation could have further implications for the OTF collective and its members.
