Biltmore Estate will officially reopen on Nov. 2 after being forced to close due to severe damage caused by Tropical Storm Helene.

The storm hit Western North Carolina hard, leading to flooding that impacted parts of the estate’s 8,000-acre grounds.

Although areas like the Biltmore House, winery, and gardens suffered little to no damage, some roads and trails are still under repair.

The estate’s tree-lined entrance now shows signs of the storm, with bare grounds and dried mud stains.

Biltmore’s reopening will also mark the start of the holiday season, but its Trails and Outdoor Adventure Center will remain closed for ongoing cleanup.

Due to a significant drop in tourism after the storm, Biltmore temporarily furloughed several staff members.

However, employees will return to work in phases once the estate opens again. Biltmore CEO Bill Cecil Jr. expressed gratitude for the community’s support and stressed the importance of reopening to boost the local economy.

While no fatalities occurred among staff, some employees lost their homes in the storm, adding to the challenges the community faces as it rebuilds.
