Ice Cube, a Los Angeles rap icon, honored Fernando Valenzuela, the Dodgers’ legend, before Game 2 of the World Series between the Dodgers and Yankees.

Ice Cube, known for his connection with Los Angeles, paused to ask the fans, “How do you feel up there today? Are we going to win Game 2 or what?” The crowd roared as the artist transitioned into his hit “It Was a Good Day,” sending chills throughout the stadium.

He proclaimed, “We doing this for Fernando, baby… Yeah,” which prompted a huge cheer from the crowd.

During his performance, Ice Cube pointed directly at the number 34, painted on the pitcher’s mound in honor of Valenzuela, known as “El Toro.”

This gesture solidified Ice Cube’s respect for the legendary player who inspired countless fans across Los Angeles and Mexico. The tribute echoed the strong legacy that Valenzuela has left in Dodgers’ history.

Ice Cube modified his lyrics to reference Dodger Stadium instead of basketball, underscoring his dedication to Los Angeles.

Standing at home plate, he ended the song by imitating a batter’s stance and delivering the famous Dodger rally cry: “It’s time for Dodger Baseball.”

He dropped the microphone, eliciting a standing ovation from the crowd, many holding back tears.

In the sixth inning, a heartfelt tribute video to Fernandomania played across the stadium’s giant screens, showing memorable highlights from Valenzuela’s career.

When “El Rey” began to play and Valenzuela’s number 34 appeared on the screens, fans rose to their feet, cheering and clapping in a grand ovation.
